Snowshill Cotswold Gloucestershire

Its a cold and frosty January morning but bright sunshine with some mist and fog to clear is the forecast and I am heading out to the Cotswold villages of Snowshill, Stanway and Stanton in Gloucestershire for my weekend photo walk.

Cotswold Change of Fortune

I was using the Stanton and Stanway from Snowshill walk out of the AA’s 50 walks in Gloucestershire as my guide.  The main attraction of the walk is the survival of the Cotswold villages when fortunes changed after the industrial revolution.  After which there was a major exodus of available labour from the land into the towns and cities.  Of course today the Cotswold villages and surrounding countryside are major tourists attractions for visitors from all over the world.

From Snowshill

As I head out of the Cotswold village of Snowshill its a beautiful sunny January morning with great views of the Cotswolds both north east and south east with the fog and mist slowly being evaporated and little wind.

Then continued the walk over the Cotswolds towards the village of Stanway first passing through Lidcombe wood and over Lidcombe Hill.

Cotswold Way

Out of the village of Stanway and towards Stanton along the Cotswold way and the cloud and fog moved back in.  Usually by 11 am the fog and mist would have completely cleared but along the Cotswold way it moved back in and got really dense as the morning progressed.

From Stanton with thick fog now and low visibility made my way back to Snowshill and had a nice pint and sandwich in your typical Cotswold pub. A good walk of over 7 miles with some nice photos of the Cotswold captured, shame about the thick fog in the latter half of the morning.
