This post is a compilation of the best landscape photos for each month taken in 2016. I started walking and landscape photography in March 2016 so I will be taking the best photo from each month beginning March. Think of it like a calendar.
March, Ditchling
March was the month I got out of my house and started walking and first got into landscape photography. I mostly visited locations around the south downs in both east and west Sussex.
But the landscape photo that tops them all for the month of March still is that sunset I was lucky enough to catch over Ditchling Rise as I was lost trying to get back to my car and daylight was vanishing rapid.
April, Amberley
Come the month of April and to get better ideas of where to walk I was using the AA’s guide to walking around Sussex.
My favourite landscape photo from April 2016 has to be this shot of swans on the river Arun, with the fluffy white clouds and green hills in the background, a good composition.
May, Parnham
Into the month of May 2016 and I still ticking of the places to visit mostly around Sussex both east and west.
My favourite walk and set of Landscape photos taken in the month of May was the trip to Parnham and the south downs in west sussex. Beautiful clear day and technically I was improving as a landscape photographer.
June, Whittering
June 2016 was an interesting month as I left my job and did some travelling abroad so not get out so much around the south east of England walking and taking landscape photos. Perhaps I liked this pastime too much and could no longer stand being bound to an office while outside it was a beautiful day.
My favourite landscape photo for the month of June 2016 has to be this one of west Whittering in west Sussex. I was just returning to the carpark when I noticed this composition. The orchids, the bench, the beach, the sun streaking through the clouds, the walker, its all there.
July, Leith Hill Surrey
Due to travel I not get out walking as much as one would like around Sussex and Surrey during the month of July. I was running out of places to visit in Sussex so crossed the border into Surrey and the magnificent north downs to practice my landscape photography.
The walk over Leith Hill in Surrey and the views from there are my favourite from the month of July.
August, Newlands Surrey
I got out for alot of walks in August due to not working. From a landscape photography perspective I not really capture any outstanding images.
So I will submit this one from Newlands in Surrey on the north downs witnessing the first fog. Looking for new walks I ventured into Kent for the first time.
September, Holmwood, Surrey Hills
September was another good month for getting out with the camera and walking visiting all three south east counties of Sussex, Surrey and Kent.
The best landscape photograph from September is my best selling on Shutterstock, which is of Holmwood at the foot of the Surrey Hills. Its those light fluffy clouds just hanging above. Beautiful day in September.
October, Penshurst, Kent
Into October, still not working and still getting out and enjoying plenty fine weather around the south east counties. The best landscape photograph taken in August comes from Penshurst park in Kent.
Beautiful morning mist and starting to see those Autumn colours coming through as Autumn approaches.
November, Cuckmere Haven, East Sussex
November was a good month for getting out walking and practising some landscape photography. I began to research my own places to visit rather than rely soley on walking guides. It was also the month I left the south east of England and my home for the last 15 years in Pease Pottage.
One of the most memorable walks in November was over the south downs from Birling gap to seven sisters in the evening to catch a sunset and that low directional light and still enjoying good weather, like you only get middle of the week.
December, Malvern Hills, Worcestershire
I moved to Worcestershire end of November and it was a bright sunny December weekend when I first got out for a hike over the Malvern Hills with my camera of course.
I was heading to that far peak the Worcestershire beacon. Although cold with frost on the ground certainly not a day to be inside cooped up in front of a screen. I shall remember this walk in December over the Malvern hills until the day I die.
So that sums up my best landscape photographs for each month beginning March in the year 2016. I have plans to make calendars and print them out. Such scenes are timeless.
