I was working in Tewkesbury Gloucestershire while living 10 miles away in Pershore Worcestershire. On the weekends especially if it was cloudy and overcast I liked to visit the towns and cities of the west midlands and this week I chose to do the Battle walk through Tewkesbury starting at the Abbey.

Forest of Dean Gloucestershire
Another cloudy weekend beckoned, with the sunlight diffused by clouds, forests and woodland can make good subject matter to photograph. Without diffused light there is too much contrast with the bright and dark areas. So this weekend decided to take my first trip to the Forest of Dean in Gloucestershire.

Painswick Cotswold Gloucestershire
This weekend decided to visit Painswick in Gloucestershire known as the queen of the Cotswolds. I was using the AA’s 50 walks around Gloucestershire as my guide. The AA guide described the area around Painswick including the Washpool Valley as having extensive views and a difficult walk due to the hills so good for exercise and photography hopefully.

Around the River Avon Eckington
Another wet and cloudy weekend for late January with few breaks. Checking the BBC weather for around Pershore in Worcestershire there was a break of about 3 to 4 hours early Sunday morning around sunrise so decided to use this gap in the weather to do a local walk along the river Avon and Eckington starting at the old Eckington Bridge.

Dovers Hill Photo Walk Gloucestershire
This walk starts in the village of Chipping Campden supposed to be one of the most beautiful in the Cotswold. What attracted me to do this photo walk was the reported spectacular views westward atop of Dovers Hill over the vale of Eversham on the Cotswold escarpment.

Bredon Hill Worcestershire
I was settling into my new home in Pershore Worcestershire. I had purchased the AA’s 50 walks in Worcestershire guide to get my bearings in the county. Not far from my base in Pershore was the Bredon Hill, it was a long walk in the cold of early December of 10 miles.

December Landscape Photography West Midlands
Late November and I moved to the West Midlands to start a new contract. From a landscape photography point of view it was a good move. I had the counties of Gloucestershire, Worcestershire and Herefordshire to explore and I was close to the Cotswolds and the Malvern Hills.
