Into June 2016 and I am a man of leisure and since March the same year I am enjoying driving my car to somewhere and going on a long walk and practising Landscape photography with my DLSR. What follows is the places I visited in June and the best landscape photos I took.
Whittering
West Whittering had a superb beach with sand dunes and wide open natural views tucked away inside an inlet of the mouth to Chichester harbour. We had been having some good weather June 2016 but the day I arrived at West Whittering it was gray cool and overcast, still I enjoyed a 5 mile hike around this popular seaside town in west Sussex.
I had captured some nice landscape photos of the beach and dunes when walking around West Whittering. But towards the end I got the photo I think was the best. Lots of layers, foreground interest with the wild flowers and then the park bench. You have scale with the silhouette of the person walking his dog on the beach and lots of interest in the sky including light beams. Makes you want to return to this position in Whittering different times of the day and seasons.
Slindon
Slindon in West Sussex is situated on the edge of the South Downs near Arundel. Its wholly owned by the national trust and includes many miles of footpaths for a country walk.
From Slindon wood there are great views out across the Sussex countryside to the coast. From a landscape photography point of view I was still shooting in HDR in error as the contrast was within the dynamic range of my camera. Visibility was a little hazy and the sky was missing detail and interest in the form of cloud formations resulting in a large empty space. What it does have is a focal point of the building which holds the eye and the path acts as a leading line towards the building.
Firle
Last and not least was a visit to Firle in the south downs east Sussex. It was a warm early June summers day I walked along the South Downs way and over Firle Beacon with magnificent views of the Sussex Weald below.
I took along my kit lense for my walk over Firle which is 18-55mm. In normal conditions it takes surprising good landscape photos. The kit lense for my canon DLSR is a lot lighter and can pack easier and gives me a good focal range as in Landscape photography I rarely go over say 50mm. It was so warm that day on top of Firle beacon in east sussex, I cut the walk short and headed back down into the village of Firle for a pint of beer.
Thats all the landscape photography I managed to visit in early June 2016 as I did some travelling abroad and did not return until July, but thats another story.
