From Sant Elm made my way to the next location of Port De Soller in the central region of Serra de Tramuntana Majorca
Sant Elm to Port De Soller
The bus journey from Sant Elm to Port De Soller first required a return to Palma to the then catch the next bus direct. Unfortunately at Sant Elm the bus not turn up. Decided to call a taxi to take me back to Palma which cost me 50 euros! Eventually arrived in Port De Soller and checked into my beach front hotel. Port De Soller is a good base for exploring the central Tramuntana and is known as the main resort in Majorca for walkers. Just chilled that first evening in Port De Soller rested up and ready for the first photo walk the next morning.
Port De Soller to Muleta Walk
Breakfast in most hotels is a little late for me at 8AM, like to be away before then. A tip is to eas as much as you can though, stuff yourself, you will soon walk it off. Just stops you getting hungry up in the mountains. Still take some snack bars from the supermarket maybe an apple to keep the doctor away. This walk from the Rother walking guide to Majorca would take you through some ancient Olive groves and some magnificent views of the Soller bay.
The walk through the ancient Olive trees with their Knarly trunks was spectacular. So fresh and peaceful up in the Tramuntana. The weather was now improving each day at least for holidays. Almost t-shirt weather now up in the mountains. Was having to deal with a lot of contrast and high dynamic range of light. In the distance can see Puig Major the highest peak on the Tramuntana.
The view of the bay of Port De Soller did not disappoint. Panoramic was the way to go to get the complete scene. So many possible compositions from this location, different times of day and seasons.
Here is another with the 200mm of the peak of Puig Major. All that remained now after a long walk to return to the hotel, rest up, nice food and a few beers.
Port De Soller to Deia Walk
The following morning another walk from Port De Soller following a lot of the previous walk before branching off to Deia rather than back to Port De Soller. Left earlier, straight after breakfast but the days were getting brighter and warmer.
Some more shots of the Olive Trees high on the Tramuntana basking in the morning sunlight. Like the composition but needed more depth higher f stop like F11 and the light is a bit skewed. Too much contrast to deal with, late in the day could be better here. Its a beautiful area.
Some strong typical Majorcan scenery presented itself along the walk to Deia. It was tempting to isolate just the tree in the above composition, which I did but a wider shot including its context in the form of stone walls and a couple of goats was more compelling.
Approaching Cale de Deia some nice views through the trees from the mountain path. Glad I bring my 70-200mm lens and polariser.
Took a detour to Cale De Deia and had a rest before heading up to Deia proper for some lunch, a few beers before catching the bus home.
Made it to Deia but only just. This day had been a long walk from Port De Soller. My foot was playing up again, an injury had got back in May 2022, I was also exhausted. Tomorrow would be a rest day as would be making my way to the next location Port De Pollenca and the north Tramuntana.
