Sunrise over Bexhill East Sussex

During my 3 month summer break in Bournemouth I was on the lookout for a new contract hopefully in the Dorset area.  One came up in Hastings for which I had an interview and later secured the job.  So come early September I was moving to east Sussex and initially staying temporarily in the Bexhill area.

Bexhill Sunrise

I had to rise early for work and the days were getting shorter as winter approached.  The first couple of weeks in Bexhill I would rise a little earlier and take a walk down to the seafront with my compact camera and catch the sun rising over the horizon of the sea.

Bexhill is approx 6 miles west along the coast from Hastings, few hotels and lots of retirees with an interesting old town full of cafes and charity shops and very few major brand names.

Galley Hill Views

There is a promenade all the way from Bexhill to Hastings where you can ride your bike unfettered by road traffic.  Along the way is Galley Hill with good views both east and west.

Looking west and on a clear day you can see the town of Eastbourne and the cliffs of Beachy head and the south downs.  Looking west is Saint Leonards and the iconic south east coastal town of Hastings and all its history.

The Colenade

The iconic landmark on the Bexhill seafront are the two Gazebos and the Colenade on the promenade which are both behind the De La Warr Pavillion not itself a great subject for any landscape photography.

So I had arrived in East Sussex, two weeks in and I rented a flat on the Bexhill seafront with a balcony so hopefully would enjoy many more sunrises, sunsets and hopefully a few lightning storms.  I had the country of Kent to explore to the east and I could return to many a good walk over the south Downs to the west.  As well as earn some money and hopefully take another long break maybe in a years time.
