Bo Peep to Firle Beacon: A Captivating Summer Sunset Journey
Recently, I embarked on a picturesque evening adventure, capturing the mesmerizing July summer sunset from the stunning Firle Beacon. Join me as I recount my experience, filled with scenic compositions and unexpected moments of beauty.
First photography walk of July 2023 was a scout over a section of the south downs from Falmer road near Brighton. The intention was to photograph golden hour and sunset.
The last days of autumn were upon us. Those warm deep golden hues would soon be gone for another season. From late morning onwards the weather forecast looked promising for a visualisation had in mind. With no specific composition in mind the plan was to capture an autumn woodland scene somewhere on the High Weald in East Sussex.
What follows is a compilation of the best landscape photography during September 2022. Visiting new locations within East Sussex and Kent and a trip to Wiltshire.
Taking my own advice got out of bed early morning for another photo walk somewhere hopefully with a sunrise. Decided on a return trip to Butts Brow on the South Downs near Eastbourne with good dawn views east.
What typifies the month of August is heather on the heath. Ashdown forest on the high weald in East Sussex is a good location for heather in August. What follows is a couple of attempts to photograph heather on the heath during August 2022 on the Ashdown Forest landscape.
Had to do a trip to Wiltshire with an overnight stay so decided would include an evening hike in the Wessex Downs. Researching online Martinsell Hill looked like a great new location to explore and photograph during golden hour and sunset,

An early July afternoon decided to scout out a new location on the South Downs in West Sussex. Was going to take a hike up Newtimber hill near Poynings and check out the views, perhaps hang around until golden hour and sunset.
After exploring and photographing the Somerset side of the Blackdown Hills, the plan now was to explore the remainder across the border in south east Devon. Would combine locations in the Blackdown hills and East Devon down to the coast.
Colley hill on the north downs next to Reigate in Surrey south east England is a viewpoint and location I have been meaning to visit for sometime. Early February began a road trip west and stopped off at Colley hill for a sunset and sunrise.
Managed to get up early enough for a dawn sunrise seascape shoot at the Coastguard cottages at Cuckmere Haven Seaford on the East Sussex coast. The first photo shoot of December.
