Landscape Photography Review October 2024

As October unfolded, so did the rich colors and shifting light that make autumn one of the most captivating seasons for landscape photography. This month’s adventures took me through misty valleys, ancient woodland, and scenic coastlines across the High Weald and South Downs. From early morning sunrises over quiet villages to hidden paths lined with centuries-old trees, October offered a wealth of inspiration.

Autumn photography brings its own set of challenges and rewards—ever-changing weather, low-angle sunlight, and a kaleidoscope of colors that can transform even the most familiar landscapes. Hastings Red Dawn

Was planning a dawn seascape photography shoot at Rye, but too pushed for time. With fog forecast thought would take an early morning walk around Alexandra Park in Hastings. On the drive there, the sky was amazing! A red dawn, change of plan, had to head to the beach along Hastings seafront and attempt to capture those brilliant vibrant colours.

The bank holiday weekend of August was a hot one.  Two weeks previous I had booked up a long weekend in a hotel in Hunstanton.  Hunstanton faces west across the Wash on the North Norfolk coast and one of the best places to catch a sunset.

Hampshire South Downs Beacon Hill

Living in east Dorset I was not far from the border of Hampshire.  The south downs in the south east of England is one of my favourite places to walk and take landscape photos.  Today was going to be my first venture into the Hampshire part of the South Downs starting at Beacon Hill and making my way to Old Winchester Hill.

Around the River Avon Eckington

Another wet and cloudy weekend for late January with few breaks.  Checking the BBC weather for around Pershore in Worcestershire there was a break of about 3 to 4 hours early Sunday morning around sunrise so decided to use this gap in the weather to do a local walk along the river Avon and Eckington starting at the old Eckington Bridge.
