cuckmere river golden hour -3

Golden hour view of the Cuckmere River winding through the valley in the South Downs, East Sussex.

The Cuckmere River at golden hour, curving gently through the valley towards the sea.

The Cuckmere River meanders across the floodplain below Exceat Hill, its curves catching the warm light of golden hour. From this vantage point the valley opens wide, with the wooded slopes and farmland of the South Downs rising on either side. The scene looks timeless, the same river route that once served the port at Cuckmere Haven and linked the lost village of Exceat to the sea.
