A great resource for learning and inspiration regarding landscape photography is Youtube. Iv been a regular subscriber on Youtube for quite some time now, watching new content almost every day. What follows is a compilation of the best landscape photography vlog channels on Youtube.
Professional Youtube Vloggers
Many of the following landscape photographers are professional and make a passive income from all the views they get on Youtube. Passive in the sense that once the video is published, but a hell of a lot of work has gone into making the video. This is no easy task and takes an incredible amount of time and labour. Much of their content is supported by b-role, drone footage and often they are lugging around two cameras and tripods to film themselves.
Thomas Heaton
I always look forward to new content each week from Thomas Heaton’s landscape photography vlog on Youtube. Iv even commented on occasion its better than Netflix. Thomas Heaton is a more out in field practical photographer.
Thomas Heaton has a huge following on youtube with over 400K subscribers and for good reason. He is very comfortable in front of the camera and as well as a local landscape photographer around the north of the UK also travels the world.
Nigel Danson
Nigel Danson is another excellent landscape photographer based in the north of England. His content is always highly educational and inspiring. A good mix of out in the field videos as well a studio post processing.
Always look forward each week to new content from Nigel Dansons channel. Vloggers like Nigel put a lot of effort into their landscape photography content and it is noticeably quality over quantity. ‘It doesn’t get better than this’ is one of his favourite quotes and I often agree.
Photography Life
The knowledge and experience of the young vlogger publishing content to the youtube arm of their blog Photography Life far exceeds his years in age. On landscape photography I always find the videos on Photography Life engaging and even when going back to basics I learn something I missed before.
Photography Life are not only about Landscape Photography they do other genres too and gear reviews. The published content is not consistent like many others but when it comes its usually very good.
Adam Gibbs
Dedicated and award winning landscape Photography Adam Gibbs regularly publishes great content and is based out of Vancouver Island in Canada. Does a lot of deep forest and waterfall photography there, always educational and engaging.
Adam Gibbs often teams up with other great landscape photographers I follow on Youtube and together they do many trips abroad to places like Iceland and Greenland where they also run workshops.
Mark Denney
Mark Denney is another professional Youtube vlogger based in the USA. Primarily the content is more studio based rather than out in the field but his knowledge of post processing landscape photos in Lightroom is second to none.
Mark Denney like clockwork publishes new content weekly on Youtube and I always learn something new about landscape photography post processing in Lightroom.
Mads Peter Iversen
Mads Peter Iverson is a dedicated Landscape Photographer based out of Denmark. Produces great content weekly on Youtube from his home country and regularly takes visits and runs workshops in Iceland and the Faroes Islands with their breathtaking scenery often featuring on his videos.
Always enjoy Mads Peter Iverson’s content on youtube and provides inspiration on my next field trips. Mads is meticulous in his approach to whatever landscape photography he is undertaking and many of his compositions are breathtaking, although he is keen on ‘epic’ which can mean composites.
FotoTripper
Fototripper is a very entertaining landscape photographer, he loves to joke around on camera. But dont be fooled by his foolery he takes some amazing landscape photographs and can switch to being deadly serious and very informative.
Always enjoy Fototrippers content on Youtube. Another Englishman based on Vancouver island and often teams up with Adam Gibbs and Thomas Heaton. Fototripper really goes the extra mile to capture the shot.
Too many to mention on Youtube
The above list is no way exhaustive there are others great photographers I follow on Youtube like Nick Page, First Man Photography to name a few. Also for post processing and getting grips with Photoshop and Luminosity masking I highly recommend Jimmy McIntyre, Sean Bagshaw and Steve Arnold.
SuxxesPhoto on Youtube
Yes SuxxesPhoto has a channel on Youtube too. Recently I have produced some slideshows of some of my favourite landscape photographs and locations for a given county or area I have frequented.
I really would appreciate some more subscribers, these landscape slideshows are short and sweet and maybe will inspire you to visit the locations yourself. I would like to produce content of some field trips but like I said in the beginning, this is a lot of effort and learning. Do you know of any other great landscape photographers on Youtube I should be following? If so leave a comment and link below.
