Castle Hill South Downs Hyperfocal

Living and working in east Sussex I have now covered most of the south downs between Eastbourne and Brighton.  I had one area left to scout the far side of the Castle Hill nature reserve near Woodingdean.

Scouting South Downs Kingston near Lewes

Another hot weekend here in east Sussex, too hot to be out in the midday sun.  The plan was to do an evening walk along a part of the South Downs I have not been yet.  Another escarpment the other side of the river Ouse that continues to Brighton.  Due to football I not make the evening walk so Sunday morning I went on a scouting trip along the South Downs starting off in Kingston near Lewes.

Willingdon Hill Sunset Moonrise South Downs

I had sacrificed photographing  a Strawberry moon rising just as the sun was setting for the world cup football, England v Belgium.  The game was basically meaningless as both sides put on only their B teams.  So the next evening from Willingdon hill on the South downs I  intended to capture a sunset and then the moon rising over Eastbourne.

From Robertsbridge to Silver Hill East Sussex

Continuing along the A21 in East Sussex, another area of high ground with potential landscape views and good hiking was Silver Hill just down from Hurst Green.  A good starting point would be from the historic village of Robertsbridge.

Along the river Medway Kent

I do enjoy a walk along the riverside and often you can find good subjects for some landscape photography and if you are lucky some wildlife too.  Iv done a few rivers while living in east Sussex like Cuckmere and the Ouse.   Wanting to explore more of Kent today I would head to the river Medway near west Farleigh.

Brede Hill East Sussex

When I was driving back from the Wye Downs the weekend before along the A28, I could not but help notice the countryside around Brede Hill as I got closer to Hastings.  This weekend I decided to explore the countryside around Brede Hill in East Sussex.

Wye Kent Downs

I had spent alot of time exploring east Sussex and the south downs, I now wanted a change and to return to Kent.  It was around a 40 mile drive from my base in Bexhill but the village of Wye and the Kent downs was my target.

South Downs Sunset East Sussex

I was keen to get more experience with my new DLSR, we were having a very hot weekend in May here in east Sussex.  The hottest day on records and the daytime was too hot and bright for a hike.  So I decided to head to the Firle on the south downs late afternoon to practice some landscape photography and try and get a sunset over the South downs.
