Sunrise Mist from Firle Beacon on the South Downs

Sometimes an early start pays off even when the original plan fails. I had gone out before dawn looking for possible poppy fields, but from Firle Beacon the real photograph was happening in the opposite direction, as the sun rose through mist lying low across the East Sussex landscape.

Firle Beacon Moonset

Rose early but not early enough for a sunrise and full moonset from Firle Beacon on the South Downs in East Sussex. After golden hour the plan was then to walk the whole ridge from Bo Peep to Itford Hill and back.

South Downs Sunset East Sussex

I was keen to get more experience with my new DLSR, we were having a very hot weekend in May here in east Sussex.  The hottest day on records and the daytime was too hot and bright for a hike.  So I decided to head to the Firle on the south downs late afternoon to practice some landscape photography and try and get a sunset over the South downs. From Firle along the River Ouse

Studying OS maps online I was keen to walk and take landscape photographs of areas of the south downs that I had not visited yet living in east Sussex.  Today would be a morning start over Firle Beacon and Itford Hill and then down along the river Ouse towards Lewes.
