dovers hill fog

Dovers Hill Photo Walk Gloucestershire

This walk starts in the village of Chipping Campden supposed to be one of the most beautiful in the Cotswold.  What attracted me to do this photo walk was the reported spectacular views westward atop of Dovers Hill over the vale of Eversham on the Cotswold escarpment.

Thick Fog Dovers Hill

I arrived at Chipping Campden relatively early but what was apparent was the thick fog.  I was atop of Dovers Hill around 9AM following the Cotswold way and could not see a damn thing westward over the vale of Eversham due to the thick fog!  From a photography point of view may have been a wasted journey.  But needed to wait a while to see if the fog would clear.  Dovers hill was the best vantage point for the taking of any photos along this walk.  Interestingly, the hill gets its name after a Robert Dover who organised the local Cotswold Olympicks here.

Fifteen minutes later and the fog was beginning to clear giving rise to some atmospheric photographs.  Once the fog had cleared people began appearing walking their dogs which made a good focal point to break up the empty space in the foreground.

From descending down Dovers Hill it was a circular walk around Weston Park and then back into the Cotswold village of Chipping Campden.

A mostly cold foggy cloudy day.  Still a good walk and exercis of over 5 miles plenty of fresh air and some nice photos.
