Before starting my road trip proper, I needed to return to my home town of Crawley in West Sussex from Hastings.  I would be in the area for a few days and intended to do some walks while there with Worth Forest looking like a good location due to the cloudy overcast and stormy weather.

Scouting South Downs Kingston near Lewes

Another hot weekend here in east Sussex, too hot to be out in the midday sun.  The plan was to do an evening walk along a part of the South Downs I have not been yet.  Another escarpment the other side of the river Ouse that continues to Brighton.  Due to football I not make the evening walk so Sunday morning I went on a scouting trip along the South Downs starting off in Kingston near Lewes.

From Firle along the River Ouse

Studying OS maps online I was keen to walk and take landscape photographs of areas of the south downs that I had not visited yet living in east Sussex.  Today would be a morning start over Firle Beacon and Itford Hill and then down along the river Ouse towards Lewes.

Bredon Hill Worcestershire

I was settling into my new home in Pershore Worcestershire.  I had purchased the AA’s 50 walks in Worcestershire guide to get my bearings in the county.  Not far from my base in Pershore was the Bredon Hill, it was a long walk in the cold of early December of 10 miles.
