I did a lot of landscape photography walks during April around the east of England, including the counties of Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire. One good thing with being on a road trip, staying in a hotel, you are more motivated to get outside rain or shine. The rain and clouds had returned with a vengeance, after a break of one day along the north downs. Based in Folkestone, I decided to take a trip inland to the Elham Valley.

It was a beautiful day in early July. The great thing with not working you dont have to miss these beautiful days being confined to a stuffy office. I had a preference for walks along the coast in Dorset. The next nearest walk from my base in Bournemouth was the coastal walk around Kimmeridge.

While contracting in Tewkesbury come lunchtimes I usually go for a 2.5 km walk around the industrial estate, just to get some exercise, fresh air and natural light weather permitting. Nothing to take nice photos of there though.

This weekend decided to visit Painswick in Gloucestershire known as the queen of the Cotswolds. I was using the AA’s 50 walks around Gloucestershire as my guide. The AA guide described the area around Painswick including the Washpool Valley as having extensive views and a difficult walk due to the hills so good for exercise and photography hopefully.
