Sussex Landscape Photography March 2016

My Landscape Photography archives stretch back to March 2016 when I first got interested in this hobby.  I would like to post and share some of my best landscape photos around Sussex with you from that time.

Around Sussex in March

I had always been interested in photography and recently upgraded to a DLSR of which I still use today, Canon EOS 700D Digital SLR Camera (EF-S 18-55 mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM Lens, 18 MP, CMOS Sensor, 3 inch LCD).
Its was because of my job that got me out walking.  I work in an office all day and I was starting to get eye infections.  I decided I needed to get out in the fresh air and sunshine for a natural cure.  So in March 2016 I picked up my DLSR and drove down to the east Sussex coast.

Birling Gap

It was a bright fresh sunny Sunday morning and arrived at the Birling Gap in East Sussex.  From Birling gap I walked the whole stretch of the Severn Sisters way to Cuckmere Haven and back.

I was handholding my camera that day and I took over 400 photographs.  I was hooked on getting out in the great outdoors and into Landscape Photography.

Cuckmere Haven

The following weekend was another good one in March and I returned to the area but this time a bit further down at Cuckmere Haven.  I arrived early as was the first to park up in the carpark and walked down the Cuckmere river towards the coast and Cuckmere Haven.

Walking back up the Cuckmere river you come to the iconic White Horse carved out in the hillside.

Cuckmere is a beautiful spot in east Sussex and popular with visitors and tourists.  Later when I got back to the carpark is was packed out, ice cream vans the lot.  Time to leave.

Devils Dyke

Devils Dyke in Sussex is another area popular with visitors especially on a Saturday afternoon in March when I ventured there.

I was hooked now and found a new passion in life, reason to live.  I was now taking my tripod with me.  The above photograph due to the high contrast was a HDR multiple exposure.  Today I rarely use HDR, preferring NDG filters for the sky.  I remember that day on Devils Dyke I got lost and ended up in the wrong car park, in the dark and using google maps managed to find the right the car park.  Lessons learnt.

Ditchling

A few days later in Sussex and still in March  its another lovely day and I cant face a day in the office so take another walk over the South Downs this time Ditchling.

After a long walk over the south downs heading back and turning around I catch a beautiful sunset over Ditchling beacon.  One of my favourite photos still to this date, right place right time.  Transition between day and night, winter and summer, summer is coming.

Bramber

I cant stay in now, especially with beautiful sunshine, especially in the month of March.  When you get into something like landscape photography, you suddenly discover all these amazing places to explore in Sussex not far from where you live.

And so it was with Bramber and the castle ruins.  Im still shooting in HDR.

Rottingdean

My last chance to get out at the End of March was a windy day around Rottingdean near Brighton in Sussex.

Its a walk that takes you along the cliffs with waves crashing over the sea wall.

So these are some of my favourite landscape photos I took in March around Sussex 2016.  Long before the birth of this blog.  And in two years I think my landscape photography has come a long way.
