The memorial to Flying Officer Percival “Percy” Burton beside the surviving oak tree at Hailsham, where his Hurricane crashed on 27 September 1940.

The Battle of Britain memorial to Flying Officer Percival “Percy” Ross-Frames Burton at Hailsham in East Sussex. Burton, a 23-year-old Hurricane pilot with 249 Squadron RAF, was killed here on 27 September 1940 after engaging a German Messerschmitt Bf 110. The surviving oak tree marks the historic crash location.
