The roadside memorial to Pilot Officer James Reginald Bryan Meaker near Brightling, marking where the 21-year-old Hurricane pilot fell on 27 September 1940.

Memorial to Pilot Officer James Reginald Bryan Meaker near Brightling in East Sussex. Meaker served with 249 Squadron RAF and was killed during the Battle of Britain on 27 September 1940 after bailing out of his damaged Hurricane. The small roadside memorial stands close to where he fell in the High Weald.
